GOP Senate Candidates at FAMiLY LEADER Forum Vow to Block Judicial Candidates Lacking a Biblical View of Justice

Bob Vander Plaats is in violation of the biblical dress code

If you want evidence of theocracy in America, you do not have to look very far. To Iowa, in fact, where loons habitually gather and where the FAMiLY LEADER and it’s feckless leader, Bob Vander Plaats, hosted a get-together for Republican US Senate candidates at Faith Baptist Bible College. You might remember that Vader Plaats thought Rick Santorum would make a good president. He also thinks Vladimir Putin is a helluva swell guy cause he hates gays.

Yes, Bob Vander Plaats is certifiable. And FAMiLY LEADER is so loony (who can forget the infamous marriage vow ?) that most liberals probably don’t take them seriously (they should), but these loons got a room full of candidates, each and every one of them, to vow to block federal judicial nominees who don’t go along with a “biblical view of justice.”

Presumably then, if they get there way, we can expect the stoning of unruly children in Iowa, lots of unshaven men (I’m looking at you Bob Vander Plaats) and kosher meals, because God will not be mocked. I mean, if not an iota of the law shall pass away, what’s with all these shaven men?

Heaps of hypocrisy aside, this whole “biblical view of justice” thing was an easy call for the theocracy/hypocrisy crowd, because, they insist, God instituted government, along with the Church and the family. I’m not exactly sure where that passage is but I’m sure David Barton can find one that has nothing to do with government and say that it does. The Church was clearly instituted by man after Jesus’ death, and family is just sort of a natural thing once a man and a woman have sex and a baby results. It’s funny how a group so dedicated to what they call “natural law” can’t see how natural that is.

Anyway, FAMiLY LEADER’s leader, Bob Vander Plaats told the crowd, “As we have a culture that runs further and further from God’s principles, His precepts, from God’s heart, it’s only natural consequences that we’re going to suffer. You cannot run away from the heart of God and expect God to bless the country.”

Oh dear, not more doom and gloom! Are you serious? Yes, he is serious. You can check it out if your stomach is strong enough because FAMiLY LEADER made sure the video was available:

Never mind that biblical law is not the law of the land in this country and has never been. Never mind that our Founding Fathers, when they were in a position to give us any government they wanted, including a biblical government, gave us a secular constitution that made all religions equal and banned the state-sponsored religion FAMiLY LEADER now wants to force down our throats. We got democracy instead of theocracy and these theocrats want a do-over.

Former U.S. attorney and current senate candidate Matt Whitaker said, “In the last several decades, we’ve tried liberalism. We’ve tried big government Republicanism. We really haven’t tried conservatism.” By conservatism, presumably, he means theocracy, since that’s what this forum was all about. At least he was right about big government Republicanism but our experiment with liberalism worked very well, thank you very much.

The real hero of the forum was apparently Sam Clovis:

Clovis stated he would not attempt to profit financially from his public service as so many others, like Tom Harkin, have. He pledged to tackle entitlement reform and how he would refuse to vote for any bill that increases the budget. Clovis also said he would adamantly reject lobbyists.

Wow, so no more staggeringly huge defense bills? Common sense aside, Clovis got loads of applause for “over and over” telling “attendees what they wanted to hear.”

Sam may not know how to tell the truth but he knows how to get elected by people who wouldn’t know the truth if it fell on their heads.

The Iowa Republican covered the forum, simultaneously praising it and condemning the Des Moines Register for not covering it. In fact, they praised the forum to high heaven, if you’ll pardon the expression, noting both that there were about 200 attendees out of 350 tickets sold and that it was “one of the most important forums of the entire campaign.” It is certainly important enough that liberals ought to take notice while theocrats plan the downfall of our system of government and our constitution.
