Rand Paul Shows No Respect To Either President Obama Or Pope Francis With Tasteless Tweet

This week, President Obama is in Europe, meeting with various European leaders and dignitaries. Earlier in the week, he met with the G-7 leaders and also made a speech at Brussels. On Thursday, the President met with Pope Francis and also had a joint conference with Italy’s president. While President Obama was speaking with the Pope, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) sent the following tweet.

There are a number of things wrong with Sen. Paul sending out this tweet on Thursday. First off, it is just the utter lack of respect he has for our nation’s leader while he is out of the country meeting with international leaders. That lack of respect also extended to Pope Francis, as he made sure to direct the tweet at him as well. It is one thing to have ideological and philosophical differences with your President. It is another thing altogether to undermine him while he is out of the country, and try to bring someone else in that effort.

Second, what does it say about Paul’s level of maturity? Remember, this man is setting up a Presidential run in 2016. He wants to be seen as the leader of the free world. Yet, he is going to send out a disrespectful tweet like this, all in a ploy to get some Snowden fanboys and Obama haters to retweet him? Is this really someone you want sitting in the Oval Office? Someone with the mindset of your everyday Yahoo News commenter?

Finally, what does this say about Paul’s ego? Basically, he feels the need to insert himself into the spotlight during something that has nothing to do with him? This is a diplomatic trip being done by the President of the Untied States. Paul has nothing to do with it. Yet, because of his inflated ego, he just can’t fathom that he isn’t front and center in this news cycle. Therefore, he must do something to get his required amount of attention.

Just as a reminder, Rand Paul is one of the Republican frontrunners for 2016. I think that says everything we need to know about the state of the Republican Party today.
