Donald Trump Would Get Absolutely Buried By Andrew Cuomo In Race For New York Governor

Quinnipiac University released a poll on Thursday regarding the race for Governor of New York and the results were, to be kind, completely embarrassing for reality star and hopeful GOP candidate Donald Trump. The former wannabe Republican Presidential hopeful really wants to get himself elected to a high public office. However, it appears that there is just one little problem. Nobody wants to vote for him.

This poll showed that New York voters have a very high opinion of Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo. He has a favorability rating of 63% and 59% of the voters feel that he deserves a second term in office. 75% also said that he has strong leadership qualities while 62% stated that he is honest and trustworthy. Those are very, very strong personal polling numbers. It shows that New York voters see Cuomo in a very positive light.

In terms of potential matchups in November, Cuomo absolutely annihilates both Trump and Republican Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, who has announced he is running.  Against Trump, Cuomo holds an unbeatable lead of 63-26. That is 37 points! In a matchup with Astorino, Cuomo is ahead by 34 points, 58-24.

‘The Donald’ scored awful favorability ratings with voters. Only 27% have a favorable view of Trump, while an amazing 60% see him in a negative light. That is a net negative of 33%! You can’t possibly think of running when you are that far underwater in terms of favorability. All you are doing is setting yourself up for embarrassment.

The director of the poll, Maurice Carroll, put it best when he said the following:

“Take your pick: Gov. Andrew Cuomo, an opponent nobody knows or an opponent nobody likes. It comes out the same either way: Gov. Cuomo trounces Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, the unknown, or Donald Trump, the unliked.”

Even Republicans don’t really want Trump. Only 56% of GOP voters said they’d vote for him in November if he was the Republican candidate. Meanwhile, 32% of Republicans said they’d vote to reelect Gov. Cuomo. If you can barely get half of your party to vote for you in an election, then perhaps you might want to think about sitting this one out.
