After Donald Trump questioned his eligibility to be president, Sen. Ted Cruz panicked and proved that he may be the biggest birther of all by renouncing his Canadian citizenship.
ABC News detailed Cruz’s utterly pointless self created birther circus:
Here are the facts: Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who may run for president in 2016, was born in Canada and his mother was a U.S. citizen.
Most legal scholars and Cruz agree that he’s an American. And if Cruz chooses to run for president in 2016, his technical Canadian citizenship shouldn’t matter, either.
But it seems to matter to Cruz.
After a spokesman initially denied that Cruz was a dual citizen, the senator said in a statement that he will renounce his Canadian citizenship.
“Now the Dallas Morning News says that I may technically have dual citizenship,” Cruz said. “Assuming that is true, then sure, I will renounce any Canadian citizenship.
“Nothing against Canada, but I’m an American by birth and as a U.S. senator, I believe I should be only an American.”
Ted Cruz is worried that he isn’t enough of an American to satisfy the tea party wing of the Republican Party. This is why Cruz had to go birther on himself and proclaim that he is the most American American that has ever lived in America, even though he was born in Calgary.
The problem is that the half Canadian modern day Joseph McCarthy wants to be president in the worst way. He has his eyes on the Republican nomination, and he is terrified that his party won’t nominate a half breed patriot. This is the real reason why Sen. Cruz is performing the birther equivalent of wrapping himself in the flag while French kissing a George Washington impersonator.
This all began with Donald Trump questioning Cruz’s eligibility for the presidency. Sen. Cruz can renounce and deny all he wants, but he can’t change the fact that he was born in Canada, and one of his parents isn’t an American. To those of us who reside in the sane world, this means nothing, but if Sen. Cruz does run for the Republican nomination in 2016 you can bet that his opponents will try to use it against him in a state like South Carolina.
Ted Cruz is eligible to be president, but his darkest fear is that he won’t be “American enough” for Republican primary voters.
