As it turns out, fugitive-in-the-making Michele Bachmann agrees. And who else to tell but World Net Daily? It’s a traditional marriage made in heaven, and Bachmann wanted to make sure the base got the message.
Saying *cough* that she doesn’t want to sound like an alarmist (I know, how do you say that with a straight face?), she nonetheless issued a direly alarmist warning:
* Don’t count on the House to stop amnesty.
* And, if amnesty passes it will end our constitutional republic as we know it.
Yeah…the House might be too busy voting to repeal Obamacare and creating more citizens is bound to destroy a constitutional republic.
That logic works with some people. Check it out yourself courtesy of WND:
“The Senate is going to pass a very bad bill. The House will pass what will sound like a pretty good bill. But I’m just here to tell you, it’s a Trojan horse.”
Both Coulter and Bachmann alluded to the need to stress security. Bachmann said that because this bill will say, “We’re going to secure the borders,” Republicans will vote for it. “Then the bill will go to a conference committee where it will undergo a dramatic change.”
“The good guts of the Trojan horse bill will be pulled out,” Bachmann warned. “The very bad amnesty provisions will be put in the bill. The bill will go to the House floor, and it won’t be Republicans that pass it.
It’ll be Nancy Pelosi leading all the House Democrats to vote for it, and just enough Republicans will vote for the bill and you’ll have amnesty.
Then Bachmann speaks directly to the WND readership, going all Glenn Beck on them:
“I think the master plan of the ruling class that runs Washington, D.C., is to ram this bill through before the American people know what has hit them and before members of Congress even know what has hit them.”
Oh dear. It would seem Baal and Moloch and their all-seeing eye are manipulating events from behind the scenes. What are Americans to do?
Glad you asked.
Bachmann said that only a “grassroots effort” can stop Obama. Presumably she means another corporate-sponsored deal like the Tea Party. For the life of me I don’t understand why they just don’t pray immigration away.
I suppose it’s more fun to complain about doomsday scenarios than to snap your fingers and have the Good Lord snap-to. Or maybe God is busy smiting a flock of birds somewhere.
“I’m just telling WND viewers that if you sit this one out and you don’t start hitting the phone lines and email, calling and visiting your representatives now and saying, ‘No amnesty now, no amnesty ever,’ we’re going to have perpetual amnesty for illegal immigration.”
Do it, she warns. Otherwise, “the whole political system will change.”
“This is President Obama’s number one political agenda item because he knows we will never again have a Republican president, ever, if amnesty goes into effect. We will perpetually have a progressive, liberal president, probably a Democrat, and we will probably see the House of Representatives go into Democrat hands and the Senate will stay in Democrat hands.”
Even worse, the Gang of Eight bill will create a “permanent progressive class” that will keep the Republicans out of power until Jesus returns. Okay, so I added the Jesus returning part, but you get her drift.
Again, saying she doesn’t want to be melodramatic when she gets all melodramatic, Bachmann warned, “That’s what’s at risk right now. It may sound melodramatic, I don’t mean it that way, but this is that big and that important.”
Nothing at all melodramatic here, as she warns, “The Republic is at stake.”
“We will not successfully pass the torch of liberty if we have perpetual amnesty. It won’t happen.”
Yeah. Because creating more voters is always bad for liberty, not disenfranchising them, right Michele? I mean, it’s not like you actually intend to let them vote.
It is fun to watch the Republican Party tear itself apart over immigration. The pragmatic part of them recognizes that they need Latino votes, that their shrinking base of angry white old people just won’t cut it, even with the disenfranchisement of minority voters, even with gerrymandering districts, even with billions of corporate dollars. But this pragmatic instinct comes into conflict with their hatred of icky brown people, and the result is the sort of cannibalism we’re seeing from Coulter, Bachmann, and others.
This is the Republican Party confronting reality for the first time in many years. Enjoy.
