Michele Bachmann Crashes, Burns, and Takes The Republican Party Down With Her

Last updated on March 24th, 2013 at 06:58 pm

By claiming that Obamacare would literally kill people, and then calling Medicaid a ghetto, Michele Bachmann is destroying herself and the Republican Party.

Here is the video:

Bachmann said, “That’s why we’re here because we’re saying let’s repeal this failure before it literally kills women, kills children, kills senior citizens. Let’s not do that. Let’s love people, let’s care about people. Let’s repeal it now while we can. Later, Bachmann came back to the House floor to pile on to the destruction, “Here’s the one that no American wants to be in. It’s the Medicaid ghetto,” she said. “And that’s where the lowest possible care, where very few doctors will be available available to offer this kind of care.”

Many have focused on Bachmann returning to form by saying things that are crazy, but there is a much bigger fish frying. Michele Bachmann’s latest right wing ‘episode’ has done major damage to the RNC’s efforts to fix their party. Just a few days ago, the talk was centered on the RNC’s autopsy report on how they lost the 2012 election. The discussion was centered on how Republicans could repair their party. Three days later, Michele Bachmann’s rant has firmly placed the Republican Party back on the same path that it was before.

When Michele Bachmann uncorks a rant about Obamacare, Medicaid, or Benghazi she confirms the widely held belief that the Republican Party is completely out of step with the rest of the country. Bachmann comments will get all the headlines, and she makes all Republicans look crazy.

The RNC doesn’t get it. Their problem isn’t “minority outreach,” or better data collection. Their problem is Republicans like Rep. Michele Bachmann. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus is hyping up structural change, when the biggest change needed is one of beliefs. As long as the base of the Republican Party continues to echo many of Bachmann’s beliefs, they will continue to lose elections.

This is why when Michele Bachmann crashed and burned today, she also took the Republican Party down with her.
