Coward Glenn Beck Leaves the Tea Party for Dead by Refusing to Get in the Ring With WWE

Last updated on February 24th, 2013 at 03:33 pm

Glenn Beck was one of the tea party’s biggest defenders, but he turned down an opportunity to defend the group on WWE by claiming that he has better things to do.

After Glenn Beck attacked the WWE for their racist character based on the tea party, the pro wrestling giant offered him a chance to appear on their flagship live program Monday Night Raw to defend the tea party . In a press release the WWE wrote, “WWE has extended an invitation to talk show host and political commentator, Glenn Beck to appear live this Monday on Raw, in response to a segment that aired on TheBlaze TV yesterday. In the segment, Beck references WWE as “stupid wrestling people,” when criticizing a recent WWE storyline involving WWE characters Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio®, Jack Swagger® and Zeb Colter®. WWE is giving Beck the opportunity to address our 14 million weekly viewers and our global fan base, as he believes we are offending our “conservative” fans with this storyline.”

Beck responded to this offer by suggesting that he was too good for the WWE, “Unfortunately I am currently booked doing anything else.”

Glenn Beck has once again shown his cowardly stripes by refusing to appear on media that is either not friendly, or under his control. WWE’s Monday Night Raw draws between 4-5 million viewers a week. It is one of the top shows on cable. Beck would have had a huge audience for his pro-tea party message, but he turned it down.

Glenn Beck’s refusal to defend the tea party sends an even bigger political message. The tea party is over. It’s dead. Beck was an important promotional, and well paid, piece of the Koch brothers AstroTurf movement. If he thinks it isn’t worth his time to defend the tea party from the WWE, the (tea) party is really over.

Beck originally made the outlandish claim that 80% of the WWE’s audience is being insulted by this tea party character, but if 80% of the audience agrees with the tea party, why won’t Beck go on the show?

Despite the WWE’s return to being family friendly programming, a majority of their audience (70%) is under age 50. Thirty six percent of their audience is women. These same demographics have also voted for Barack Obama twice. One of the reasons why Glenn Beck wouldn’t even consider doing the program is because he would be likely to face a hostile crowd.

If he was really serious about defending the tea party, Beck could have done a taped sit down interview. What does it say about the state of grassroots conservatism that Glenn Beck turned down the chance to preach the tea party gospel to 600 million people in 140 countries around the world?

Cowardice is nothing new to Beck. Remember, this is the same guy who wore a bulletproof vest at his own rally. Nobody should really be surprised that his defense of the tea party evaporated when challenged. Glenn Beck has always been about getting paid. The man believes in nothing but the Glenn Beck brand.

The tea party is dead, and don’t expect Glenn Beck to lift a finger to revive it.
