As a Board Member if the Military Religious Freedom Foundation I am more acutely aware than most Americans of the breadth of influence being insinuated into our military on multiple levels every single day. In addition to the mandatory attendance requirements at events sponsored by, and performed on, military campuses everywhere – there are commanders and Pentagon level top brass that intentionally use our presence overseas as a federally funded missionary project. This flagrant misuse even leads to senseless deaths such as the one that took the life of Nicolas D. Checque this weekend when he was sent in to rescue Dominionist missionaries working as “economic development” professionals in Afghanistan and took a fatal bullet to the head as a result.
Killed Rescuing Missionary Dr. from Taliban
One press release on this tragic incident reads:
“Twenty-eight-year-old Petty Officer 1stClass Nicolas D. Checque, of Monroeville, died Sunday of combat-related injuries sustained while supporting operations in Afghanistan, the Pentagon said in a release.
The rescue operation was launched when coalition forces reported that Dr. Dilip Joseph was in imminent danger.
Joseph, who worked with the non-profit Morning Star Development of Colorado Springs, was kidnapped Wednesday along with two Afghan staff members — one is part of the medical team, the other part of the support team. Joseph has been the non-profit’s medical adviser for three years.
Most who read this will have no idea that the Dr. who was rescued is responsible for the needless death of this young man. Let me explain. This Dr. works for a Dominionist non-profit out of Colorado Springs, Colorado called Morning Star Development. Those of us who research Dominionism call Colorado Springs ground zero of Dominionism. It is a breeding ground for these leaders with new enterprises cropping up all the time. Morning Star is one of these proselytizing ventures disguising themselves as a secular economic development non-profit.
They claim to respect the dominant religion in Afghanistan and that they refrain from proselytizing there out of deference to Islam. If you believe that, as they say, I have some prime real estate in the Florida Everglades to sell you! These groups will take on any front and go to any lengths to weasel their way into the cultures and lives of those they target as needing to be saved. This time the Dr. was kidnapped by the Taliban which prompted the search and rescue mission that killed Nicolas.

Subject: Tragic Seal Team Loss

To: Mikey Weinstein <mikey@militaryreligiousfreedom.org>Dear MRFF,
I’m really heartbroken to see that we’ve lost another brave member of Seal Team 6, tragically just before the holidays. What makes this loss even harder to bear is that it was totally unnecessary.
Why are we risking the lives of our special forces personnel to rescue members of a christian evangelical team (Colorado Springs based ‘Morning Star Development’ in Afghanistan?) Private citizens who go to far off places to spread their religion should not assume that brave Americans are going to risk their lives (and taxpayer resources) to bail their asses out when they go into tribal lands where they’re not welcome and not requested, trying to spread their own brand of religion under the guise of charity work and free medical care.
They’re certainly free to do that if they so choose, but NOT with the tacit support of the US Government–and that’s exactly what they have when a discredited general officer (Allen) orders our forces to rescue them. I can’t imagine the heartache in the family of the lost Seal Team 6 member. If it was my son that was lost, I’d be calling for a congressional investigation looking into the why we were bothering to try to accomplish this rescue at all.
If that doctor and his team weren’t employees of the US Government on orders to be there, then we shouldn’t bother to help them. It is NOT the government’s job to rescue EVERY American from EVERY dangerous situation into which they willfully place themselves. Signed, US Air Force Officer.”
Precisely! Here is a very short clip from a 2006 BBC Documentary on military missionaries highlighting a Col. Walten Walker, U.S. Military in Haiti expressing that harvesting souls is his primary mission.
Keep in mind that most of the residents of Haiti are Catholic. This is why I repeatedly discuss how Dominionists only recognize “the right kind of Christian” – which leaves Catholics and mainstream Christians out of their exclusive club.
AlJazeera made a documentary in their “Fault Lines” series on military missionaries, “Evangelism in the Military”. The 1st segment is 16:32 but I appeal to you to watch it all the way through. It is invaluable to conveying the very message that I am writing about. Included interviews in this clip are Jeff Sharlet, Chris Hedges and even our own Senior Researcher for the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), Chris Rodda. You will walk away with a deeper understanding of why we take this deadly serious at MRFF.

The 2nd clip is only 5:19 and highlights a stunning interview with former National Security Advisor, Brent Scowcroft, 3-star General (retired) who demonstrates that he is 1) an unconscionable liar of the highest order; or 2) that he is woefully naive and has no business in positions of power concerning security, our military and the United States of America.

Deny, Deny, Deny – They Will Believe Anything I Tell Them!
I can’t tell you how disturbing it is to hear from those who have held or currently hold positions of power downplay and disregard the ramifications of what is clearly happening. The very fact that a man like Scowcroft can attempt to whitewash reality is reminiscent of the routine fabrications of ReBiblicans and Dominionist leaders. And the fact that no matter how much evidence exists, even on film and recorded audio, they have no compunction about not only blatantly lying and stating that its not true, but to have the unmitigated audacity to get indignant!
I will be doing a full expose on God’s Own Party? tomorrow with links on Morning Star and how they are actually yet another front group for Dominionist/New Apostolic Reformation world evangelizing missions taught to fly under the radar as international aid and assistance groups. Here is a quote from Morning Star founder and CEO Daniel Batchelder about another fake altruistic secular “economic development and aid mission” to Haiti in recent years…
“You are kingdom professionals…. new wine in a new wineskin to complete the Great Commission.”
Dan Batchelder
President, Morningstar Development
Colorado Springs, Colorado USA
He is a Dominionist. An extremist as blindly devoted, obsessed and dangerous as the Taliban that kidnapped their Dr. The Great Commission is all-consuming for these zealots and they do not acknowledge boundaries of any kind as they pursue their goals. They will twist the death of this young Navy Seal as ‘God’s will’. This senseless loss of life must stop! Our military must not be dispatched into action to rescue those who intentionally go into war torn areas to harvest souls.
