Tea Party Deadbeat Joe Walsh Tells Sandra Fluke to get a Job

The Republicans have demonstrated no remorse for their treatment of Georgetown University Law graduate Sandra Fluke. It’s no surprise: she’s a woman. She’s supposed to keep her mouth shut and take the scraps patriarchy tosses her. Know your role is the message Republicans have for America’s uppity liberal women. Be like Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann; Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell: vacuous and rather dim.

Muslim-hating, Deadbeat dad Tea Party hero Joe Walsh (R-IL) told a diner full of old white folks in Addison, Illinois, “Think about this, a 30, 31, 32-year-old-law student who has been a student for life, gets up there in front of a national audience and tells the American people, ‘I want America to pay for my contraceptives.’ You’re kidding me. Go get a job. Go get a job, Sandra Fluke.”

Actually, Fluke is not demanding the government – and therefore tax payers – buy her contraceptives. She is demanding that contraceptives be covered under the insurance plans employers offer their employees. And apparently defending women’s right to healthcare isn’t a job. But never mind the facts.

Watch the video courtesy of CREDO Super Pac, which obtained this film of the shameful episode:

“I was offended.”We’ve got Americans who are struggling, we’ve got parents in this country who are struggling to buy sneakers that their kids can wear to school that just started. We’ve got parents up and down my district who are barely keeping their house. And we have to be confronted by a woman, the Democratic Party, this is what they stand for. They’re going to put a woman in front of us who is complaining that the country — you, me and you — won’t pay the nine dollars a month to pay for her contraceptives. How crazy is this?”

And in a way, it’s not her fault because we teach people this stuff. You got back to fairness We teach people this. Don’t worry, the government will take care of you. You’re having trouble with your student loans? Don’t worry, government will be there for you.”

We are raising the Sandra Flukes of the world. We’re raising Americans who don’t know how to take care of themselves, who feel entitled. This a woman who feels entitled that we all should pay for her contraceptives. This is what we’re teaching Americans? That was embarrassing. That was embarrassing.”

His attack of Fluke shouldn’t surprise anybody. This is the guy who said that though Todd Akin’s comments about rape were “wrong and offensive,” that was no reason to throw him under the bus. This is the guy who attacked Iraq Vet and double amputee Tammy Duckworth, questioning her patriotism. Duckworth, a female combat helicopter pilot is shot down, has one leg shot off, the other mangled, and he questions her patriotism. As Jason Easley wrote here about that attack,

“It is repulsive that a man who has to be publicly shamed into taking care of his own children has the nerve to criticize a woman who literally gave two of her limbs for her country. Much like Dick Cheney and George W. Bush, Joe Walsh never served his country, but he is willing to politically smear those who did by demeaning their service.”

Just this past weekend, Walsh doubled down on his vitriol by attacking Duckworth’s presence at the Democratic National Convention, saying this on his website:

“Ms. Duckworth has continued to show more interest in rubbing elbows with big name party insiders, then [SIC] staying home and tackling the tough issues facing voters in the district. It has become abundantly clear that at this point the only debate Ms. Duckworth is actually interested in having is which outfit she’ll be wearing for her big speech.”

But repulsive is the nature of Republican politics these days. Ever since Rush Limbaugh’s infamous, “It makes her a slut, right. It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex,” Republicans have delighted in attacking a young woman who had the courage to stand up for herself.

Look at some of the comments about Fluke on The Blaze:

I’ve always found it poetically amusing that Fluke’s name isn’t pronounced like it is spelled. It rhymes with the “F” word! Figures the slut would call herself according to her passtime!

Thank God, someone’s saying what’s the truth. Fluck is a turkey……..doesn’t know when to put her head down. I’ve always heard turkeys look up into the rain and drown. True or not?
Just looking at her after her ranting and raving makes me feel sick. She is a bad example of womanhood. Limbaugh was right about her, it’s what I think when I have to see her image.

Fluke has a job. A fluke is a parasitic worm. It’s not just her last name, it’s her job description.

This fluck woman is representative of all that’s WRONG with America when it comes to moral issues.
She should be hiding her face with the things she believes, and be ashamed of herself.

Sandra Fluke is using the Government to TOUCH MY JUNK.
I guess it’s no biggie when a young man yells rape.

Because Sandra Fluke, like millions of women, doesn’t know her role. But it’s fitting that Walsh should address the issue in a diner full of old white folks. It’s the constituency the GOP aims for these days, the only one they haven’t driven out of their ever-shrinking tent. Probably the only group still willingly embracing an outdated and exclusive code of everyone-for-himself morality that demands brazen hypocrisy of its adherents.

I mean, never mind that Walsh himself, and his room full of old white folks, all depend on not only employer health benefits but those they get only because the government they’re attacking is there to make sure they do.

Food for Further Thought: In another video obtained by CREDO, you can see this Tea Party twit tell yet another room full of old white folks, “I don’t want to call him [Obama] a ‘tyrant’ because he really isn’t smart enough to know what that means.” CREDO has pledged to take down Joe Walsh as part of the “Tea Party Ten” and I’d have to say that’s a good call. I think you will too.
