Clint Eastwood’s Chrysler Super Bowl XLVI Commercial: It’s Halftime in America
Walking down a dark tunnel, Clint Eastwood growls, “It’s halftime.” Ahh, that voice. That iconic silhouette. He continues, “It’s halftime in America, too.”
Comparing America to the struggles Detroit has faced and is overcoming, Eastwood says that because we all pulled together, the Motor City is fighting again. He credited our rallying around what was right and acting as one for Detroit’s success.
“This country can’t be knocked out with one punch; we get right back up again and when we do the world is going to hear the roar of our engines.”
“Yeah, it’s halftime in America and our second half is about to begin.”
I hear Clint is a Republican, but not the hate-mongering type. He’s a real fiscal conservative and a hard worker. He runs his sets with notorious fairness and egalitarianism, not to mention his loyalty to crew.
In this commercial, he’s standing up for America and for all we can be; giving us a pep talk to not give up, to believe in ourselves and keep going. This is the kind of Republican we’d like to see more of. But then, that’s because he’s pulling for America to come together and do what’s right for our country, and holding Detroit up as a model for us all. He’s saying, we can overcome this economy if we pull together. I can’t think of the last time I heard a Republican say anything remotely this patriotic or inspiring.
I know he voted for McCain in 2008, but I could have sworn I heard the chant of “four more years” in his praise for Detroit’s success and heartening American spirit.
Well done, Chrysler and well done, Mr Eastwood.
