Tea Partiers Marching on Hate Group Property to Rally for Republicans
Ah, good morning people. There’s nothing like a little Right Wing silliness to make a Monday complete and this Monday does not disappoint. Sunday, Tea Partiers carrying water for the GOP’s new fear mongering Get Out the Vote tactic rallied on a private ranch owned by a hate group to show support for Arizona’s Papers First Law.
This is, of course, all a part of the “Obama and the Democrats don’t keep us safe” narrative, buttressed by the fear of anchor babies and general resentment of brown people which has eclipsed the Right’s fear of gay people this election season. Never mind that in reality, the Republicans have done no more about border security than the Democrats and never mind that under Bush, the borders were made more porous so as to allow cheap labor to cross over and help those big guys make a lot of profits.
Watch Here (and a hat tip to The Political Carnival):
And that’s why the Republicans don’t want to talk about REAL illegal immigration reform, which would start with employers being on the hook for hiring illegals. Of course, there was a time under Bush when Republicans and Democrats worked together to solve real problems like this – but those days are no more.
When the Republican Party is out of power, their base follows their leaders right over the cliff of sanity and they resort to fear mongering and obstruction in order to regain power.
Proof that this was really a Republican campaign rally?
Arizona Central reported:
‘”We are going to force them to do it, because if they don’t, we will not stop screaming,” said former state Sen. Pam Gorman, one of 10 Republicans vying for an open congressional seat in north Phoenix. Gorman carried a handgun in a holster slung over her shoulder as she mingled with demonstrators.”
And guess who else was there, along side controversial bully Sheriff Joe Arpaio of the pink handcuff shame? U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Hayworth, who is challenging Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in the Republican primary! Yes, all the far right extremist gang was there!
Shhhh! No one tell the highly volatile Tea Partiers that Obama already signed a 600 million dollar law to help secure the border…..shhhhh….This is no place for facts or reason, you traitor!
Sunday’s storm on the border rallied around 400 people and garnered quite a bit of attention. Far be it from me to moan about the lack of press when us tree-hugging peace activists protested the invasion of Iraq…..I know, I know…squeaky wheels, I guess. Tearful peace activists don’t make good TV, whereas screeching Tea Partiers do.
And here’s why. These people can’t help themselves from tripping up on their utter silliness. The many things they claim to stand for are, under the briefest of examinations, determined to be utterly false. Every time the GOP tells these clowns where to go and what to say, they follow along, tea bags strung to their heads and silly costumes meant to evoke stirrings of patriotism taking the limelight. And if that’s not enough for good TV, there’s the things they say and do.
The New York Times reports:
“Cindy Kolb, a border activist who lives nearby, yelled out through the thick metal slates in the border fence, which had been decorated on the American side with tiny flags, “Hey, don’t come over here anymore.””
Ah, that’s tellin’ ‘em, Cindy! Where were you, Cindy, when our national security was being ignored by Bush? Just think what a few good shouts would have accomplished then! Hey, you! You! Don’t come over here anymore! Ha.
But the best part was the location. Remember last summer when the Tea Partiers took to our national parks to decry big government and taxes? Well, yesterday, they took to a private ranch owned by Glenn Spencer, founder of the group “the American Border Control” – a group the Arizona Anti-Defamation League classifies as a hate group.
Ah, yes, people. These are just good old American patriots concerned about the New Fear. It’s just like the Old Fear, only more fearful!
