Media Employee Sarah Palin Blames the Media for Her Violent Rhetoric

Last updated on August 10th, 2014 at 05:03 pm

As she cashed her Fox News paycheck, Sarah Palin attacked the media.

During her speech at the Tea Party Express rally in Searchlight, NV today, Fox News employee Sarah Palin blamed the media for her target list and her violent rhetoric. Palin said, “It’s a bunch of bunk what the media is trying to feed you. Don’t let them distract you from the debate.” Media criticisms aren’t nearly effective when they come from someone who makes their living on cable news.

Palin said, “Now when we talk about fighting for our country, let’s clear the air right now on what it is we are talking about. We’re not inciting violence. Don’t get sucked in to the lamestream media’s lies about conservative America’s standing up for freedom as inciting violence. Violence isn’t the answer. It’s a bunch of bunk what the media is trying to feed you. Don’t let them divert attention from the debate. Media, you guys ginning up an issue like that making it sound like it is a crowd like this of patriotic Americans who are inciting violence. It’s not true. It’s a bunch of bunk and we ask for some fair and some balanced reporting coming from you please. When we talk about fighting for our country, we’re talking about our vote. Our vote is our arms.”

While we are clearing the air, I think it is important to note that the media wasn’t criticizing the whole tea party movement or that very white crowd in attendance today, as much as they were criticizing Sarah Palin and her target list. Sarah, they aren’t criticizing, “us.” They are criticizing, “you.” It is impossible to take her media criticism seriously now that she works for the most popular cable news network and the second most popular cable network on all of television. Fox News is the mainstream media. If the media is so bad, then why is Palin working for it?

Palin was in rare form as she spoke from a lectern, and told the crowd that they don’t need a president who lectures them from a lectern. The main themes of this speech were a rerun of yesterday’s stump speech for McCain. Palin continues to rely on the same 2008 campaign talking points, even if she does look like a hypocrite while saying them as a Fox News employee at a Fox News promoted event. Palin can change the outside with plastic surgery and wigs, but she still lacks the depth and substance needed to be anything more than the Paris Hilton of politics.
