Rep. Michele Bachmann was on FNC’s The O’Reilly Factor last night, where she indulged in one of O’Reilly’s favorite hobbies, attacking MSNBC. O’Reilly said that the left is after Bachmann, and she replied, “So now it’s like I almost have personal stalkers, only they have TV shows…”
Here is the video courtesy of Media Matters:
O’Reilly said, “Now you are a pretty interesting politician congresswoman. You are second to Sarah Palin in far left angst. You Sarah Palin leads the league, no doubt, but they’re after you now. We hear it all the time Michele Bachmann, she’s this she’s that…How did you get into that wheelhouse?
Bachmann answered, “You know it is an interesting phenomena, I think it happened with a competing cable network that took an interest in me, and it’s only grown, so now it’s almost like I have personal stalkers, only they have TV shows, so it’s an interesting phenomenon.”
Later Bill-O asked why she is getting under the left’s skin. He said that to him she is a conservative Republican from an upper Midwestern state who speaks her mind articulately. O’Reilly played dumb, and said that he doesn’t get it.
Bachmann answered by claiming that progressive women are unhappy, “It may bother them that conservative women are happy and don’t need government in order to be successful in life. I have a great husband, great kids, I had a great career as a federal tax attorney, and I don’t need government to be successful, and it seems like they have a stereotype for women, and I don’t fit into their stereotype.
The problem is that the left isn’t attacking Bachmann. They are mocking her because she is bat shit crazy. She doesn’t get under the skin of the left as O’Reilly claimed. She is a constant source of amusement and entertainment. MSNBC wouldn’t be discussing her if she wasn’t saying crazy and/or factually inaccurate things almost every day.
Bachmann first got MSNBC’s attention when she went on Hardball before the 2008 election, and called for an investigation of the Democrats in Congress because she believed that they were engaging in un-American activities. She has become a consistent punch line on the network, as her zany comments are often played for comic relief.
I find it interesting that Bachmann claims that she can be successful without government, but as member of the House, she draws a paycheck from Uncle Sam. Think about this, Bachmann’s private sector career was as a federal tax attorney, so without the federal government, she would not have had a job. I think Michele needs the federal government, a lot more than she is letting on.
