The second in command of the Maersk Alabama, Shane Murphy blasted Rush Limbaugh when he came back to the US. Murphy called Limbaugh’s defense of the Somali pirates on his radio show, “hate speech,” and said he won’t tolerate it.
During his April 14 radio show Rush said, “You know what we have learned about the Somali pirates, the merchant marine organizers that were wiped out at the order of Barack Obama, you know what we learned about them? They were teenagers. The Somali pirates, the merchant marine organizers who took a US merchant captain hostage for five days were inexperienced youths, the defense secretary, Roberts Gates, said yesterday, adding that the hijackers were between 17 and 19 years old. Now, just imagine the hue and cry had a Republican president ordered the shooting of black teenagers on the high seas.”
Murphy replied to Limbaugh’s comments yesterday, “It feels great to be home. With the exception of Rush Limbaugh who is trying to make this into a race issue. It’s disgusting. The president did the right thing. It’s a war. It’s about good versus evil. And what you (Limbaugh) said is evil, that is hate speech. I won’t tolerate it.”
Shane Murphy implied that Rush Limbaugh has sided with evil, and that Rush hates America. If this is a war that is about good and evil, and Limbaugh defends the pirates, does this mean that he is evil? Rush was a moron for trying to make this about race. Anyone on that ship would be right to express the kind of anger that Murphy did. I doubt that Limbaugh would have had so much sympathy for the pirates, if the president was a Republican. Once again, Rush’s babble has managed to make the GOP look bad.
