Donald Trump is always the ultimate victim, but he is at his most dangerous when he slyly insists that his followers are the ones under attack, convincing the MAGAs who had nothing to do with Trump’s crimes that they’re the real target. This is what Trump did with his dangerous late-night tirade on Truth Social last night. Trump goes third-person (taking himself out of the equation) and screams that the government is trying to destroy the MAGA movement and democracy.
This is so recklessly dangerous. It screams that Trump would rather start a civil war than face the consequences of his own actions:
America has never suffered this kind of ABUSE in Law Enforcement! For the FBI to RAID the home of the 45 President of the United States, or any President for that matter, is totally unheard of and unthinkable. This Break In was a sneak attack on democracy (our Republic!), and was both unannounced and done at a time when the President was not even present. It was for political, not legal reasons, and our entire Country is angry, hurt, and greatly embarrassed by it. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
So the premise is that the government is abusing Trump. That’s an assumption. It is sufficiently proven to him.

He moves on to say that it is “unthinkable” to enforce the law against a former president. The FBI had a search warrant signed by a judge. It was enforcing the law. Former president or not, it is the FBI’s job to enforce the law and protect national security.
He then accuses the FBI of a crime, a “break in.” Again, it was a search warrant conducted peacefully. It was not an attack, and the police don’t make appointments to search for evidence of a crime. They were not “sneaking.”
Then Trump makes the MAGAs the victims and uses words that can ignite a civil war. The search was “an attack on democracy.” (He goes through “unannounced” and done when “the President” wasn’t there, both of which are meaningless, but Trump makes them sound nefarious). He then gets back to words of war. It was politically based rather than a legal matter. Trump then speaks to his supporters, “Our entire country” is angry, hurt, and greatly embarrassed.
The Newsmax-watching, low-information MAGA is going to believe Trump. That person is going to believe that 90% of the country is furious with the FBI, and something has to be done to preserve “democracy” because it’s being stolen from them. The FBI and DHS have already sent out warnings to federal buildings across the country regarding increasingly violent rhetoric. There are MAGAs that want to be violent, they want to fight “libs,” and they want to be their worst selves. Donald Trump knows this and doesn’t care how many will die due to his reckless self-interest any more than he did on January 6th. He only knows that, like then, he’s in trouble and now expects people to fight for him to get him out of it.
