April Ryan’s Calls For Sarah Sanders To Resign Have The White House Rattled

Journalist April Ryan has made a factual argument that Sarah Sanders has got to go, and the White House is worried.

Ryan said on CNN:

The White House is very concerned. I got a call today because as you know, I called her a liar, and the White House tried to explain to me what it was. A lie is a lie is a lie. She calls us fake news. She’s a fake press secretary who’s disseminating lies.

She embellished at the very least. If she talked to maybe two or three. She embellished saying the word countless. Countless. As opposed to saying a few or none. She lied to the press, who in turn delivered that information to the American public. It’s not about us. It’s about the American public. From that sacred podium to give this information that is wrongful. People are not going to be able to trust her or even this administration. It’s even bigger than Sarah at this point. It’s now the president. It’s now his minions. Can you trust, and the answer is no. There are big questions today.

Ryan said on Thursday, also on CNN, “Not only does she not have any credibility left, she lied. She outright lied and the people, the American people, can’t trust her. They can’t trust what’s said from the president’s mouthpiece, spokesperson, from the people’s house. Therefore, she should be let go. She should be fired. End of story. When there is a lack of credibility there, you have to start and start lopping the heads off. It’s ‘Fire Me Thursday’ or ‘Fire Me Good Friday,’ she needs to go.”

April Ryan’s call for Sarah Sanders to go is unprecedented

There has not been a time in the modern 24-hour news cycle that a White House correspondent has called for the White House press secretary to be fired. The Mueller report is an earthquake because it is the first time that the intentional efforts to use the communications platform of the presidency to mislead the American people have been documented by a neutral third party.

Sarah Sanders does need to be shown the door, but a president who values himself ahead of the country will never fire her. Sanders will only be gone when Trump is given the boot.

April Ryan’s point should be taken to heart. Sanders is doing damage that can’t be repaired by replacing the administration. She is eroding public trust, and it is going to take decades, if the nation is lucky, to build that important dynamic back into our society.
