The line between cringe-worthy reality TV show and real-life American presidency blurred even more on Thursday as Donald Trump brought pizza mogul and fellow alleged sexual predator Herman Cain into the Situation Room to talk border security strategies.
According to The Washington Post, the president was holding a meeting with top military brass about the southern border, and he urged Cain to sit in on it.
(Just as a side note: If the idea of a guy like Herman Cain sitting in the Situation Room doesn’t terrify you, I’m not sure what would.)
During the meeting, Trump reportedly told the generals in the room that it would be a good idea to develop a border security plan based on Cain’s widely mocked 9-9-9 plan.

Trump recently gathered with generals and other military leaders for a meeting about the Mexican border, according to two people familiar with the chain of events who spoke on the condition of anonymity to freely describe the discussions. At the meeting, which was held in the White House Situation Room, an aide passed Trump a note informing him that Cain was in the building.
Trump summoned Cain to the meeting, and then told the military brass that they needed to come up with a “9-9-9†plan for the border. The joke fell flat.
It’s no surprise Trump’s joke ‘fell flat’
If and when Donald Trump gets criticism over his suggestion that the military should take notes from Herman Cain, he’ll likely just claim he was making a joke. And perhaps that’s all this was – a failed attempt by a humorless president to make a funny.
But the point isn’t whether or not this president seriously suggested taking national security cues from Herman Cain. He probably wasn’t.
What is truly terrifying, though, is that nobody would be surprised if he did.
Because as I wrote earlier, we have an unqualified president of the United States slowly purging his dumpster fire presidency of any remotely qualified individuals. And it seems he decides who will replace them based on the last person he saw on Fox & Friends that day.
The reason the president’s joke fell so flat in the Situation Room is that the line between joke and reality continues to blur more than ever with Donald Trump in the White House.
