Nancy Pelosi Calls Trump A Thief While Trashing His Budget

Last updated on March 16th, 2019 at 12:14 pm

Speaker Pelosi accused Trump of stealing from the American people to pay for things like his wall as she completely trashed his budget wish list.

Pelosi said in a statement provided to PoliticusUSA:

The cruel and shortsighted cuts in President Trump’s budget request are a roadmap to a sicker, weaker America. House Democrats will reject this toxic, destructive budget request which would hollow out our national strength and fail to meet the needs of the American people.

Instead of building a stronger, healthier nation, President Trump’s budget would take away Americans’ health care and devastate the pillars of economic security for seniors and families. After adding $2 trillion to the deficit with the GOP tax scam for the rich, President Trump wants to ransack as much as $2 trillion from Medicare and Medicaid. While demanding billions more for his wasteful, ineffective wall, President Trump will steal from students and hungry families, from rural communities and American farmers, from clean air and clean water, and from vital, job-creating investments nationwide.

The budget is a statement of values, and once again President Trump has shown how little he values the health and well-being of families across America. Democrats believe that hard-working families deserve a federal budget that is written For The People, not for the special interests and the wealthiest 1 percent.

Trump is going to get nothing in his budget from Democrats

Presidential budgets usually don’t fare well even in the best of times. White House budgets are a wish list. The president has no budgetary authority. Pelosi is making it clear that Trump‘s budget wasn’t worth wasting paper to print it on. Even more so, Pelosi uses the terms ransack and steal to describe Trump‘s budget. She views the Trump budget as an act of theft from the American people, which makes Trump a thief.

Without the blue wave in November 2018, the American people could be looking at a loss of health insurance, Medicare/Medicaid, and cuts to programs for the poor. If not for the Democratic House, Trump‘s budget could have been a reality, and the greatest upward redistribution of wealth in the nation’s history would be happening right now.
