Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said that House Democrats would investigate Trump’s business and financial records to see if he’s been compromised by the Russians.
Rep. Swalwell answered when asked by MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace if Trump is at risk of being blackmailed, “Yes, and that risk, I think, will be further — or understanding what that risk will be further understood in a new Congress. I believe Bob Mueller is probably sticking narrowly to his mandate and that he’s not looking at a potential Russian money laundering through the Trump Organization. We don’t have to stay within that mandate. We actually will be able to, and ranking member Schiff has talked about this, investigate Deutsche Bank, look at the president’s tax returns, his financial records, to see if his interests over decades to do business with the Russians and the Russians’ efforts to do business with him has materialized to a president being compromised.”

If Trump has been compromised, Democrats will find out
At heart, the House Democrats will be investigating if Trump’s conflicts of interest between his business and the presidency have led to him being compromised by the Russians, the Saudis, or the Chinese. Trump can’t borrow money from US banks, so the funds for his business had to come from somewhere. Where the money came from is Russia, Saudi Arabia, and China.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has explained how the Russians have used money laundering to control Trump, “There have long been credible allegations that Russian money was laundered through the Trump Organization. If Russia could show that Trump, his business or his immediate family had benefited from tainted money or broken the law — or if Trump believed they could — it would mean that Russia could exert pressure on Trump to influence U.S. foreign policy.”
Trump has been compromised. It is just a matter of finding how much damage the president’s compromised status has done to the country and national security.
