More recent reporting indicates that the shooter is now in custody, but the situation is still fluid.
Donald Trump issued a response via Twitter a short time ago, saying he is “watching the events unfolding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania” and that it “looks like multiple fatalities.”

A week of terrorism continues
This tragic act of gun violence at a place of worship caps off what has so far been a week full of terrorism.
First, it was politically-driven violence with high-profile Democrats and members of the media being sent pipe bombs by a loyal Trump supporter.
Now, on the Jewish Sabbath, an act of religiously-driven violence has struck a synagogue near Pittsburgh, leaving at least seven Americans dead.
The American people are sick of seeing this type of imagery plastered on their television screens. But as long as Donald Trump keeps throwing gasoline on America’s political, racial and religious divisions, these acts of violence are only more likely to take place.
