As soon as Robert Mueller got witness testimony that Hope Hicks obstructed justice, he has the leverage to force her to cut a deal and turn on Trump.
The New York Times reported, “Mr. Corallo is planning to tell Mr. Mueller about a previously undisclosed conference call with Mr. Trump and Hope Hicks, the White House communications director, according to the three people. Mr. Corallo planned to tell investigators that Ms. Hicks said during the call that emails written by Donald Trump Jr. before the Trump Tower meeting — in which the younger Mr. Trump said he was eager to receive political dirt about Mrs. Clinton from the Russians — “will never get out.” That left Mr. Corallo with concerns that Ms. Hicks could be contemplating obstructing justice, the people said.”
Mueller has a witness in former Trump legal team spokesman Mark Corallo, and so far, the White House’s only defense has been that Corallo is a liar. The problem is that Mueller has Hope Hicks and Trump on a conference call discussing how the Trump Jr. Russia emails will never get out. The stupidity becomes even more damning because Trump Jr. himself ended up releasing the emails.
It is now clear why Trump is in such a hurry to fire Meuller. This administration’s pattern of obstruction of justice leads right to the top. If Mueller charges Hope Hicks, and she has no choice but to turn on Trump and tell all, Trump will be doomed.
Robert Mueller has more evidence on more people than anyone imagined, and the panic is palpable in the White House as January 2018 draws to a close.
