For six months.
Nothing to worry about for six months!
Right when dim, battered hope had tried yet again to make its appearance in regards to President Trump after he managed a coherent and unoffensive tweet this morning about Hurricane Irma, the President stepped up to his Twitter platform again and teed off with some absurd crazy that contradicts pretty much everything he’s been promising his base for years.
Trump tweeted Thursday morning, “For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about – No action!”
For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about – No action!

For those of you who live longer than 6 months, what can he say. OOPSIE, he meant what he said during the campaign?
President Trump needs to be loved so badly that he is often seen and heard not just playing both sides, but managing to tell different audiences completely different stories about his positions. Trump gets away with this because somehow many in his base convince themselves that things like this tweet show the President cares about immigrants, even after a campaign spent demonizing immigrants with not even thinly veiled racial animus.
Such as this Trump supporters’ take under the President’s tweet:
1 Peter 2:13-17
Therefore #submit yourselves to every #ordinance of #man for the #Lord’s #sake, whether to the #king as [1/5] pic.twitter.com/NdwucopCba— #OneNationUnderGOD (@peplamb) September 7, 2017
So, after 6 months send these kids back to their home country and this equals rescuing and saving lives, Republican style.
Trump faced widespread, bipartisan backlash on Tuesday for his decision to rescind former President Obama’s DACA protections for young undocumented immigrants and he’s been trying to backpedal and walk both sides ever since. Now he wants love.
What we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is a political coward who makes Paul Ryan look principled in comparison.
It shouldn’t be forgotten that in spite of their rhetoric, President Obama’s immigration policy was to focus our limited resources (see: limited government) on deporting criminals. Sending children (Obama’s DACA: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) who grew up here back to their home country accomplishes nothing except to give Donald Trump something to puff up his chest about to his base and distract attention from his other growing scandals, relentless incompetency, and troubling mental health.
It’s fair to say that Donald Trump didn’t even know what DACA was when he first took action to rescind it, and probably still doesn’t. So in that sense, he might feel he meant no one harm, but we have the built in expectation that the President of the free world has at least a passing understanding of his own policy positions.
Trump wants kids and adults impacted by Obama’s DACA policy to love him, even though he’s ruining their lives for his own political gain. It’s all about Trump. Always and forever.
Update 11:09 AM EST: Nancy Pelosi said during her press conference Thursday morning that she asked President Trump to reassure dreamers and this was also reported in Huffington Post, so this might have been his attempt to do so. Probably best to write the President’s tweets for him.
