As poll show softening support for Trump among Republicans, the President used rallies of handpicked supporters to claim that his base is getting stronger, which illustrates how Trump is hallucinating a presidency that doesn’t exist.
Trump tweeted:
The Trump base is far bigger & stronger than ever before (despite some phony Fake News polling). Look at rallies in Penn, Iowa, Ohio…….

…and West Virginia. The fact is the Fake News Russian collusion story, record Stock Market, border security, military strength, jobs…..

Recent polling shows Trump’s strong support among Republicans has fallen to 53% as his unpopular policies and personality have combined to even push many Republicans to take a step back from this president.
President Trump is using rallies that are full of his own supporters as proof of the strength of his base. At some level, Trump realizes that his base is all he has, which is why he has tried to demand the repeal of Obamacare and ban transgender persons from the military.
Trump never seemed like he was on solid mental and emotional ground, but the Russia scandal has broken something inside of him. The President has retreated to dream land, and he is imagining support for that lives only in his mind.
