As Donald Trump flounders as president and continually fails to get his health care bill passed, former President Barack Obama pointed out at a private event that Obamacare is more popular than Trump.
CNN reported on a private event hosted by A&E Networks that Obama spoke at on Thursday night, “As Republicans in Washington sputtered again this week in their efforts to undo the law, Obama noted to an audience in midtown Manhattan that “the Affordable Care Act has never been more popular — and it’s more popular than the current president,” according to a person in the room who paraphrased the comments.”
Those comments are certain to provoke a rage filled Twitter rant from Trump.
Consider the different between the two presidents. While Donald Trump is spending his first 100 days complaining about how hard it is to be president, at the same point in his presidency Barack Obama had already signed four major pieces of legislation into law.
Trump can’t get a bill to repeal Obamacare through a Congress that is controlled by his own party, while Obama was able to get a landmark health care bill passed that has helped hundreds of millions of people afford health care, or expanding the coverage and protections included in their policies.
While Donald Trump whines and complains, Barack Obama was doing and achieving.
If Trump hears about Obama’s comments, it will drive him nuts and send him running to his Twitter account this week.
It’s clear that Barack Obama is relishing the fact that his signature legislative achievement is now popular than the man who promised to destroy it.
