Trump is failing, and it looks like he is about to fire Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus.
Citing administration officials who say that Trump is tired of the infighting among his staff, it is being reported that Trump is considering “reassigning” White House Senior Adviser Steve Bannon and White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
The Wall Street Journal reported, “In West Wing shakeup, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon could be reassigned — sources.”
It is well known that the administration staff is at war with itself. Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus has been fighting with each other, as has Bannon and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, as has Kellyanne Conway and Ivanka Trump.
The Trump White House appears to be in a constant cycle of chaos and dysfunction, as there are two clear ideological fault lines within the administration. There are Steve Bannon and his alt-right crowd, and the Priebus/Pence establishment both fighting for the president’s ear. There is also a third faction composed of Trump, his daughter, and his son-in-law.
One of the many reasons why Donald Trump is failing as president is that he is a weak leader with no knowledge or plan for how to govern. Trump isn’t steering the ship. His ship is going in circles while factions of the right fight for control in his administration.
The culture in the White House is dysfunctional because the man leading the administration is dysfunctional.
Trump has now decided that he doesn’t like all of the fights that his style created, so he is going to fire some people. The odds are that both Bannon and Priebus are on their way out. They probably won’t be ousted at the same time, but it would be surprising if the both lasted through 2017.
Donald Trump has been a failure of a president, and somebody is going to have to take the fall.
Instead of blaming himself for putting together such messed up administration, Trump is going to blame everyone else.
President Trump has never taken accountability before, so one shouldn’t expect him to start now.
The axe may fall soon on Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus.
