Republicans Are Planning To Waste Your Money On Massive New Clinton Investigation

Some things never change and so it is that Republicans are already planning how to avoid being grown ups who do their jobs if Hillary Clinton is elected president. Yes, there will be more toy-throwing and tantrums and best of all for the party of fiscal humiliations, more wasteful spending on political witch hunts.

Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), who is Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, is planning on spending years investigating Hillary Clinton, according to Dave Weigel at the Washington Post. And naturally, Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) told the Post that he is also on board with this ineffective, obstructionist behavior in lieu of actually governing.

Calling a Clinton presidency a target rich environment, Chaffetz told the Post, “It’s a target-rich environment. Even before we get to Day One, we’ve got two years worth of material already lined up. She has four years of history at the State Department, and it ain’t good.”

Weigel notes that if “Republicans retain control of the House, something that GOP-friendly maps make possible even in the event of a Trump loss, Clinton will become the first president since George H.W. Bush to immediately face a House Oversight Committee controlled by the opposition party.”

Republicans have already wasted millions of taxpayer dollars investigating Hillary Clinton for Benghazi and her emails. Republicans granted themselves an unlimited budget to investigate Clinton for Benghazi, one of the longest Congressional investigations in U.S. history. They did this at the same time as they argued that we were so broke that we should cut more services to poor people and our veterans. They did this even as they refused to pass Zika funding unless they were allowed to fly the Confederate flag.

On both fronts their own investigations, led by Republicans, came up short and in fact cleared Clinton. But they had the net impact of giving the public the idea that Hillary Clinton wasn’t trustworthy, which was the intention.

After all, Republicans had no one who could match Clinton’s experience or her global popularity.

Republicans had a horrible record in the first half 2015, and they didn’t make up for it later. Sadly, 2016 was even worse.

So unless everyone gets out to vote not only in 2016 but also 2018, and even if Democrats take back the Senate, Republicans will continue with their plan to do nothing but try to damage Hillary Clinton – even though that choice means they are hurting the American people, the country, and their own brand. Hard work? Not so much.

The House that did nothing but investigate Hillary Clinton also took more time off for the same pay.

Republicans have been doing this since the 90s. When they don’t win the White House, they throw little man baby fits and waste your tax dollars to appease their wounded egos. They are anarchists who figure if they aren’t in power in all of the branches of government, then government should be punished and made unworkable.

The party of grown ups has devolved into a decades long wail of a two year old whose mommy left the room.
