With that one simple, but very truthful sentence, Hillary Clinton summed up the contrast in this election. Clinton was right. Candidates who focus on the negative aren’t going to be presidents who are going to solve problems and lift up the country. Trump offers zero positive solutions.
Donald Trump makes promises, but he never tells voters how he plans on turning those promises into public policy. Hillary Clinton is leading because Donald Trump is running a campaign that is so dark, negative, and devoid of optimism that it has allowed Clinton to run a campaign of positivity and optimism. Trump has bashed America so much that he has lost the patriotism issue.
Hillary Clinton is offering a positive message about what is right in our country, while also reaching out to those who angry about the direction of the country. The Democratic nominee is offering both optimism and realism. It is the perfect counter to Trump’s relentless pessimism.
Clinton is steadily chipping away at the anger of the electorate. Her message is smart, simple, and judging by the polls, extremely successful.
