The Bernie Sanders campaign is hinting that Sen. Sanders may endorse Hillary Clinton before the Democratic convention in Philadelphia.
Bernie Sanders could offer an endorsement of presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton before the party’s convention next month, depending on the outcome of ongoing policy talks between the two campaigns, Sanders’s campaign manager said Friday.
Jeff Weaver, a longtime Sanders confidant, said that he has been encouraged by discussions over several policy issues important to Sanders — including a plan for tuition-free college — that Sanders would like to see as part of the Democratic legislative agenda going forward. Clinton and Sanders began talks in earnest over such issues during a meeting Tuesday in Washington.
It isn’t a matter of if Bernie Sanders will endorse Hillary Clinton, but when. Ideally, Democrats would like to see the endorsement before the convention, so that they can come to Philadephia with everyone on the same page.
The endorsement is coming, but it is clear that the Democratic platform is extremely important to Sen. Sanders. Bernie Sanders wants to make sure that the issues he campaigned on will not be forgotten by the Democratic Party in 2016. There does not seem to be a grudge between Clinton and Sanders, and the speech that Sen. Sanders gave to his supporters on Thursday night sounded like a concession speech.
There is no doubt that Sen. Sanders is going to endorse Hillary Clinton. Sanders has been an ally to Democrats during his time in Congress. Bernie Sanders will work tirelessly to get Hillary Clinton elected and defeat Donald Trump.
The endorsement of Clinton by Sanders will be a big day for Democrats, and it is likely to happen soon.
