After giving a widely panned, and factually empty, anti-terrorism speech, Donald Trump announced that he was banning The Washington Post because the newspaper reported the truth about his statements.

As you can see, The Post is on Trump’s blacklist because they dared to report that Donald Trump has been trying to connect President Obama to the mass shootings in Orlando, FL. It is no coincidence that Trump banned the newspaper after he gave an anti-terrorism speech that completely bombed.
Donald Trump is failing as a candidate, and he is blaming the media for his failure. Trump also does not believe in a free press. If an organization does not give the presumptive Republican nominee the kind of coverage that he wants, Trump will ban that outlet.
Trump’s ban of The Washington Post flies in the face of his own media strategy. Last week, Trump told Republicans that he wasn’t going to raise as much money for them as they requested because he is going to win the White House by doing lots of interviews. However, it will tough for Trump to get media coverage if he insists on banning the biggest media outlets in the country.
Trump has it all wrong. He thinks that the media needs him more than he needs them, but he is a candidate with no campaign operation to speak of. Donald Trump’s entire presidential campaign is made up of rallies and television interviews. Without the media, Trump would have no campaign at all. However, Trump is not stupid. His terrorism speech was a bomb, so it isn’t a coincidence that he would try to change the subject by banning The Washington Post.
This isn’t The Apprentice. This is a presidential election, and come November; voters will be the ones saying to Donald Trump, “You’re fired.”
